For more than 50 years, the hospital now operating as WellStar Sylvan Grove Hospital has served the medical and healthcare needs of the Butts County community through a 24-hour emergency department and 25 inpatient beds. The hospital became part of the largest health system in Georgia in 2016 with its affiliation with WellStar Health System.
WellStar Sylvan Grove patients come from Butts, Henry, Clayton, Rockdale, Spalding and other counties in a 60-mile radius from the hospital. The hospital also provides imaging services, outpatient physical, occupational and speech therapy for adults and children, a Lymphedema Management Program, respiratory therapy, dietary education, wound care, and more.
WellStar also includes WellStar Medical Group, 240 medical office locations, outpatient centers, health parks, a pediatric center, nursing centers and hospice homecare. In addition to Sylvan Grove, WellStar has ten inpatient hospitals in the metro Atlanta area.
Basic health services are also provided by the Butts County Health Department, which is charged with the overall health of the community. Services offered include child health checks through age 21, developmental screening and referral for children, routine exams and blood tests, immunizations and Hearing, Vision, Dental and BMI form for school entry, family planning, pregnancy testing and prenatal care, women’s wellness exams, tuberculosis screenings, and STD screening and treatment. The Health Department also manages the WIC program (Women, Infants, Children), and the Environmental Health division manages restaurant inspections, as well as inspections/permitting of public swimming pools, and wells and septic tanks.
